Kevin Connolly
Kevin has been a city resident since 1996 and is a lifelong Democrat. He is active in Public Employees Federation and is an officer in Local Division 190. Says Kevin, "The Democratic Party in this city needs to be transformed into a vibrant, progressive, unified group. The old ways are changing, both localy and nationaly. Let's get in step with the times. Democrates in our city can be "winners" if we vote for Saratoga Springs Democrats for Change caandidates for the city Democratic Committee on September 9."

Al Turkheimer
Al has been a proud registered Democrat for over 50 years and has participated in local, county and state committees. He is running to represent voters in his district and citywide, who have been disenfranchised by the current City Committee. Al says, "It is essential that a revitalized party elects good Democrats to City Council and supports them in office. We need effective Democratic leadership from elected officials AND from the party structure. It's the job of the Committee to represent city Democrats, find great candidates and build a strong and lasting party." Al is a retired building contractor in Westchester and Essex Counties. He has served on many civic boards, including as chair of the Yonkers Zoning Board of Appeals. Al and Sherrie Turkheimer have lived in Saratoga Springs for 3 years.

Janet St. Clair
Janet is 65, has a daughter and a son, was born in Tupper Lake. She and her husband Dennis moved to Saratoga Springs in 2003. Janet, a retired teacher, taught at Windsor HS in CT, Lynch Middle School in Amsterdam and Shenendehowa. Janet is an active, lifelong Democrat and was elected to municipal office (served 9 years) and volunteered for numerous Dem candidates. She worked in the Connecticut legislature and then lobbied for the American Lung Assoc. on the state and federal level. Peter Tulin
Peter has lived in Saratoga Springs since 1972. He graduated from Colgate University with a degree in Philosophy and Religion and then graduated from Albany Law School. He has been engaged in the General Practice of Law in Saratoga Springs for more than 30 years. In addition to his Law Practice, Peter served as Assistant City Attorney for 2 years, Acting City Court Judge for 3 years and City Attorney for 10 years. Peter has served on the Board of Directors of the Economic Opportunity Council, the Saratoga YMCA and the Saratoga Springs Senior Citizens Center. Kate Bouchard is a political newcomer but is interested in bringing balance back to the city of Saratoga Springs. Kate is a theater professor at Skidmore and lives in Saratoga with her husband Bruce and has two grown daughters.

Hilary McLellan
Hilary McLellan serves on the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee and on the Heritage Area Advisory Board. She's a member of the Preservation Foundation, the Arts Center, and other community organizations. Deeply concerned with historic preservation, smart growth, and the role of the arts in economic development, Hilary chaired the Celebrate Downtown Saratoga Committee under Mayor Keehn. Thilo Ullmann
Thilo was born in Madrid, Spain, where he was active in a variety of progressive political movements. He moved to the US in 1986, moved to Saratoga Springs in 1997 and became a US citizen in 2002. He is married to Linda Simon, chair of the Skidmore English Department. They have two grown children, one in Spain and another in California. Thilo became a member of the City Democratic Committee in 2000, representing ED4, where he and Linda reside. Nancy Montagnino
Nancy lives at 9 Roberts Lane in Saratoga Springs and is a practicing attorney. She graduated from Pace Law School in 1989 and from NYU, with a double major in film and politics. She has been active in the Democratic Party for nearly twenty five years and was even a candidate for the County Board at 19! Nancy has been married to Jim Montagnino, a candidate for City Court Judge, for 22 years. They have 2 wonderful children. Nancy is a member of the Saratoga Co. Bar Association and served on its Law Day Committee. She is also a member of the Adirondack Women's Bar Association and the New York Thoroughbred Breeders. Nancy is a licensed private pilot. Linda Englert
Linda relocated from Dutchess County to Saratoga Springs in 2002 with her husband Michael, who served as the City Attorney during the administration of Mayor Valerie Keehn, and their children, Eviana and Alexander, who are now both in college. Linda is the Director of the Adult Mental Health Center at Glens Falls Hospital, and has a Master's degree in Social Work and a Ph.D. in Psychology. Peter Marino
Peter Marino is an English professor at Adirondack Community College. He has lived in Saratoga Springs since 1985, and has been active in civic activities as well as the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. He currently chairs the church's social justice committee which has worked for the rights of citizens on a local, state, and national level.

Michael is a life long resident of New York State and a resident of Saratoga Springs. Chris moved to Saratoga in 1991 and is married with 3 children, Emma 12, Bailey 8, Jack 3. He is a self-employed carpenter since 1992 and was appointed to the Design Review board by Mayor Ken Klotz. Marjorie Martin
Marjorie moved to Saratoga Springs in 1980. She has been associated with a number of local non-profits over the past ten years. Since October 2005 she has been with the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation. Caroline Dugas
Caroline Dugas lives at 65 York Avenue with her husband Mark and their two children Jackie 16, and Rienne 12. Before moving to Saratoga Springs seven years ago, she worked at Harvard Law School as a Secretary to the Professors. She grew up in Upstate, NY. Brucie Rosch
Brucie is an illustrator for magazines and ad agencies nationwide. She is working on a children's book project and does graphic and web design for non-profits, advocacy and lobbying groups. She travelled to Florida with the national voter rights group, Election Protection, during the 2004 Presidential Election. When she returned home, she was recruited by the former City Democratic Committee chair, Shawn Thompson, who encouraged her to put her community passion to constructive use. She's been on the Committee for 3 years and worked for Valerie Keehn's, Ron Kim's and Matt McCabe's campaigns. Brucie has lived in Saratoga Springs for 10 years and resides in ED9. Charley Brown
Charles Brown, 57, resides on Perry Street with his wife Dr. Lale Davidson, professor of English and his 8-yr-old, Tess. A contractor and musician, Brown has long been involved in politics. After studying political science at UC Santa Barbara, he became a lifelong Democrat with a mild obsession for national politics. He worked with a coalition to stop the placement of two trash incinerators in Washington Co. (and succeeded in stopping one). He was chair of the Salem Democratic committee and 2nd vice chair of the Washington Co. Democratic Committee. He served on the board of Salem Courthouse Preservation Assoc. and ran for Salem Town Supervisor. Encouraged by the successes of the 2005 election and the commitment to raise his daughter in Saratoga Springs, Brown has chosen to take a more active role in the Democratic processes of this fine city.

Roger Wyatt
Roger Wyatt is a husband and father who makes films and Internet new media. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Saratoga Senior Center, Odyssey School of the Arts, and the Saratoga Community Federal Credit Union. Among his many projects is documenting the restoration of the Statue of Liberty. Recently his work took him to Ireland where he spent three weeks filming in a Buddhist monastery. Al is a retired NYS worker and current member of the Public Employees Federation. He is a local leader in a coalition to protect Social Security from Bush's privatization plan, is a board member of the Capital District Citizen Action chapter, an active volunteer for Democratic candidates in 2004, 2005, and 2006 elections, was Chair of Mayor Keehn's letter to the editor effort in 2007 election and has been a member of the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee for the last 4 years. Suzanne "Zuzia" Kwasniewski
A card carrying member of the ACLU, Zuzia also belongs to the League of Women Voters, Christ Episcopal Church and BJ's Wholesale Club. Married to James Post, the carpenter, plasterer, lutenist and bread baker extraordinaire, they have two children, Mark, 26 and Sofia Rose, 8. Zuzia's previous professional experience includes Senior Coordinator for House Operations, NYS Assembly, Legislative Liaison for the Commission on State-Local Relations, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. Zuzia is a graduate of SUNY Oswego and the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. She has a day job at City Hall where she takes her oath of office, the city charter, and public service seriously. She is a licensed massage therapist and maintains a private bodywork and wellness coaching practice. Her community activism helped stop the placement of cell towers on Skidmore's Pink Palace and the destruction of trees along Spring Street in Congress Park. An avid outdoorswoman, Zuzia has hiked extensively in the Southwestern United States, Hawaii, Maine, France and the Adirondacks. Deirdre Ladd
Deirdre O'Dwyer Ladd has lived in Saratoga for ten years and is an adjunct marketing professor at Skidmore College. Deirdre grew up in Loudonville, N.Y., received a B.A., from the University of Vermont and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado. She is on the Board of Trustees at the United Congregational Presbyterian Church and has been a life-long volunteer for the Democratic party on the local, state and national front. Deirdre also enjoys volunteering her time for other local organizations, such as the M.O.M.S. Club of Saratoga and the Lake Avenue P.T.A. She is a 41 year old mother of three boys.

Nancy Fritch
Nancy is 53, has 2 children, is Bookkeeper for Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation, a former Board Member of the Open Space Board, a current member of the Advisory Board for Grants to You, an active volunteer for Community Hospice and the Race Track Chaplaincy of New York. She is an active advocate for the backstretch workers.

John Marino
John is Associate Director of the Department of Radiology at SUNY Albany. He is on leave to serve as Vice President of Local 2190 (UUP). Lew Benton
Lew, a native son, retired from public service in 2001. He was commissioner of Public Safety from 1988-'95, a member of the City Planning Board from 2002-'07, and chair of the Public Safety Capital Construction Committee. Benton designed and implemented the City's Emergency Medical Response program in 1992 and established the Police Department's Traffic Safety Division. He also chaired the Downtown Traffic Committee. His public service career spanned 5 decades and included 24 years as a staff member of the County Planning Board and 6 years as administrator of the NYS Agricultural Districts Program. Sally Kirouac
Sally says: "I think I was born a liberal." She majored in political science and philosophy at Bennington and received a MA in American Studies from Union. Sally was a researcher in the NYS Assembly, and became familiar with State Government. She taught high school English and English as a second language, then completed an art degree and spent the last 15 years of her working life as a graphic designer. She worked on the Dukakis campaign and was very involved in Howard Dean's campaign. She served on the City Democratic Committee for 2 years and also worked for Valerie Keehn's campaign. Mary Ann Klemm
Mary Ann has lived in the Geyser Crest for 10 years. She is a nurse and works locally in an oncology office and volunteers at a community hospice home. Ed Nadeau
Ed is business manager of Local No. 7 Plumbers & Steamfitters and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of, and all business between Local Union and the public and employers. He has been a member of the union for 18 years. He served as an apprentice welding instructor from 1994-'03 and was elected to the Executive Board in 2000, where he served as president from 2003-'05, and as business agent from 2005-'06. Margaret Erickson Prough
Margaret has lived in Geyser Crest for 31 years and has raised 3 sons in the Saratoga Springs school system. She taught at Head Start and at The Beagle School for 18 years. Eileen Finneran
Eileen has lived in Saratoga Springs for 26 years and has been a member of the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee for 6 years. She earned a BA in Political Science from SUNY Geneseo, with graduate work in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh. She is a former Legislative Aide to Assemblymembers Clifford Wilson, Mel Miller and Eric Vitaliano. David Spingarn
Dr. David Spingarn was raised in West Orange, NJ and graduated from West Orange HS in '71. He attended St. Lawrence where he earned a BS in Biology in '75. He then rode his bicycle to Denver and lived and worked there for 2 years. He began Physician Assistant School at George Washington U, graduating and working as a PA at the US Public Health Service Hosp. in Baltimore and at Johns Hopkins, prior to starting med school in Granada. He transferred to U of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in '87. He did a year of psychiatry residency in Philadelphia prior to changing fields and completed a Family Practice residency in '91. He took 2 months off and safaried in Africa before moving to Saratoga later that year. He worked 7 years at CHP and opened private practice 10 years ago. He has served on the boards of Planned Parenthood, Temple Sinai, Franklin Community Center and the City Recreation Commission. Susan "Nancy" Goldberg
Nancy is married to L. John from Ireland and they have 3 children and 9 grandchildren. Attended Wellesley College, Harvard Business School. Worked at The New York Times, ABC-TV, promotion and public relations. In Saratoga Springs she has been member of the Democratic City Committee representing ED23 since it was split off from ED17. She has been on the Zoning Board of Appeals for 6 years, the Chair since January '06; Vice Chair of the Comprehensive Plan Committee; Member of the Board of Interlaken's Homeowners Association; active in the Democratic City Committee. Mary is Coordinator of Community Outreach at the Saratoga Prevention Council, and has received grants for community art to run workshops with the Frederick Allen Lodge, the Center for the Family, Saratoga Mentoring Program. She owns and runs the The Mud Shack, offering clay classed for kids and adults. She has worked as a volunteer with families in the community for over 10 years. Dave is a Senior at SUNY GENESEO, majoring in Political Science with a History minor. He was political columnist for SUNY Geneseo's newspaper, The Lamron. He is currently a campaign volunteer for Congressional candidate Paul Tonko. Shawn Thompson for NY State Committee

Shawn is a member of Democrats for Change who is running for re-election to represent Saratoga Springs, Ballston, Milton, Greenfield, Charlton and Galway on the NYS Democratic Committee. Shawn's combination of experience in government and his relationships in Albany and statewide make him the ideal state committee person for us. Shawn was Chair of the Saratoga Springs City Democratic Committee when it swept the 2005 election with 7 for 7 Democratic wins.
